Oilfield Safety Training

Are you a Métis interested in a career in the oil and gas sector? Are you looking for a career, not just a job? If so, the Métis Oilfield Safety Training project may be for you.
The Métis Oilfield Safety Training project is a work-ready program that prepares participants for entry-level positions in industrial environments. This five week program includes job preparation, all safety tickets required for oilfield work, and potential work placement with an employer.
Future outlook for employment opportunities in the oil and gas industry in this region is high.

Environmental Career Camp

Description:

GET HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS AND EARN A WAGE THIS SUMMER
Are you a Métis youth between the ages of 15 and 18? Are you interested in careers in the environmental field, such
as: environmental auditor, fish and wildlife officer, forest technician, or park warden? Do you want to earn High School credits AND a wage this summer? If so, the Environmental Career Camp may be for you.
Successful participants will receive certification in standard first aid, wilderness first aid, H2S alive, WHIMIS/TDG, GPS certification, and canoe certification, plus Alberta High School Career and Technology Studies (CTS) credits in WLD 1130, CTR 2020, HCS 2020, and work experience credits.

Métis Job Preparation Training is a two week program designed to give you the skills and assistance you need to find a job that works for you.
You’ll receive training in Resume Writing and Job Search Skills, Networking and Cold Calling, Tapping Into the Hidden Job Market, Active Job Search, and Interview Skills.
Participants will be encouraged to search for employment with the assistance of the facilitator.

International Youth Leadership Intern Program

Description:

MÉTIS YOUTH INTERNSHIP 2013
Are you a Métis youth between the ages of 18 and 30? Are you interested in promoting Métis and Canadian Culture overseas? Are you looking to gain work and world experience in a foreign country? If so, the International Youth Leadership Internship Program, in association with the Ghost River Rediscovery Society may be for you.
Participants will receive a one week pre-departure orientation at Ghost River, followed by a six month paid internship overseas. While there, participants will share their Métis culture, assist in the development of local youth projects, promote youth training and learn valuable life and leadership skills.
Airfare and travel visas are paid for, and you’ll earn a wage while employed. Space in this program is limited, so apply today!

Engineering Technology Transition Program

PREPARATION FOR A CAREER IN THE EXCITING FIELD OF ENGINEERING
Are you a Métis Youth between the ages of 18 – 30? Are you interested in a career in the field of engineering? Do you want to be able to enroll in an engineering related program at NAIT?
If so, the Engineering Technology Transition Program may be for you.
Métis youth participants will be provided with personal devel- opment, employability skills and academic upgrading in Math, English, and Physics necessary for a post-secondary engi- neering program.
Successful participants who complete the program and meet NAIT Engineering Program entry requirements will be admitted to engineering programs for the fall of 2012.

Métis Emergency Services Program

ARE YOU HERO MATERIAL???
If you’re a Métis between the ages of 18 - 30, looking for a career in an emergency service such as firefighting, policing or EMR, the Métis Emergency Services Program may be for you.
This program is designed to give you the attitude, skills, knowledge and physical ability to apply for a position within emergency service departments such as policing and fire at most major departments in Alberta.
Training includes aptitude training, physical fitness training, interview preparation, station assessment, safety tickets, First Aid/CPR Level C, Canadian Firearms Safety Course, EMR training, and Class 2 license training as required.

PREPARE FOR A CAREER IN HELPING AND HEALING
Are you a Métis individual looking for the opportunity to start a career in the health services sector? Health Sciences Transition

Do you have a proven Grade 10 education and need the necessary pre-requisites such as Math, Chemistry, Biology, English or Physics in either pure 20 or 30 levels to enter a post-secondary health related program? Do you require safety certification and inoculations necessary to tour health facilities? Could you benefit from life and employability skills and the opportunity to job shadow a professional in the health sciences career field?

If so, the Health Sciences Transitions Program, offered in partnership with the Rupertsland Institute, Alberta Health Services and NAIT may be for you!

This program will assist you in getting the pre-requisites and support you need to successfully transition into a career in the health sciences.

Métis Apprenticeship Project

APPRENTICE IN THE TRADE OF YOUR CHOICE!
This program is designed to meet your individual needs such as assistance with information interviews, job shadowing, career planning, accessing the buddy system at NAIT, safety ticket training, work experience, developing resumes, challenging provincial entrance exams, or a number of others based on individual needs.
You will be introduced to potential employers with opportunity for interviews resulting in an apprenticeship within your trade of choice with a reputable company.
You must be Métis, minimum age of 18, and be ready, willing and able to commit to the program.
