Environmental Career Camp

Project Type: Youth
Location: Hinton, AB
Start Dates: July 19 — August 23, 2010
Application Deadline: July 5, 2010
Description:

Are you a Métis youth between the ages of 15 and 18? Are you interested in careers in the environmental field, such as: environmental auditor, fish and wildlife officer, forest technician, or park warden? Do you want to earn High School credits AND a wage this summer? If so, the Environmental Career Camp may be for you.

Successful participants will receive certification in standard first aid, wilderness first aid, H2S alive, WHIMIS/TDG, GPS certification, canoe certification and learner’s licenses, plus Alberta High School Career and Technology Studies (CTS) credits in Wilderness 1030, Wilderness 2030 and Forestry 1050.

Youth Career Exposure Camp

Project Type: Youth
Location: NAIT Main Campus, Edmonton, AB
Start Dates: August 3 — August 13, 2010

Description:

If you are a Metis youth between the ages of 15 to 18; return- ing to school in the fall of 2010; and demonstrate an interest in career exposure through hands-on mini project development in Carpentry, Millwright and Multi-media; tours; guest speakers; and are ready willing and able to attend the day camp Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm this camp is for you!

Daily nutritional lunches and snacks are provided. Program space is limited, so apply today!


Engineering Technology Transition

Location: NAIT Main Campus, Edmonton, AB
Start Dates: October 18, 2010 — May 20, 2011

Description:

Are you a Métis Youth between the ages of 18 – 30? Are you interested in a career in the field of engineering? Do you want to be able to enroll in an engineering related program at NAIT?

If so, the Engineering Technology Transition Program may be for you.

Métis youth participants will be provided with personal development, employability skills and academic upgrading in Math, and Physics necessary for a post-secondary engineering program.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will have the minimum entry level requirements to apply to a full-time engineering related program at NAIT.

Health Sciences Transition

Description:

Are you a Métis youth between the ages of 18 to 30? Do you have a proven Grade 10 education and need the necessary pre-requisites such as Math, Chemistry, Biology, English or Physics in either pure 20 or 30 levels to enter a post-secondary health related program? Do you require safety certification and inoculations necessary to tour health facilities? Could you benefit from life and employability skills and the opportunity to job shadow a professional in the health sciences career field?

If so, the Health Sciences Transitions Program, offered in partnership with the Métis Nation of Alberta and NAIT may be for you!

This program will assist you in getting the pre-requisites and support you need to successfully transition into a career in the health sciences.


Accounting & Management Transition

Location: MacEwan University, Edmonton, AB
Start Dates: November 1, 2010

Description:

Are you a Métis Youth between the ages of 20 – 30? Are you interested in a career in accounting or management? Do you want to be able to enroll in a management studies program at MacEwan University?

If so, the Accounting and Management Transition Program may be for you. Métis youth participants will be trained in personal development, employability skills and computer software, and receive academic upgrading in Math and English.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will have everything you need to apply to MacEwan University’s full time Accounting Technology, Accounting and Strategic Measurement, or Management Studies Program.
